Watermark options
Watermarks bake into the variants Encore generates from your originals. They're not overlays applied at view time. Clients see and download already-watermarked photos, and the originals you uploaded stay clean in storage.
What you can build
Each studio has a watermark library at Settings → Watermarks. Save as many marks as you want and apply any one of them per gallery. Two kinds:
- Text. Type the line (your studio name, "© 2026 Studio Name", "PROOF", whatever). Pick a font from your studio's brand fonts. Pick a color.
- Image. Upload a PNG or SVG of your logo. Transparent backgrounds work cleanest.
Both kinds share the same layout controls:
- Position — a 9-point grid (top-left, top-center, top-right, center, …, bottom-right). Default is bottom-center.
- Scale — 1–100, sized as a percentage of the photo's shorter edge. 25 is a reasonable default; press marks usually want 15–20, big portfolio bars 35–50.
- Opacity — 1–100. 60 is the default; bump it lower for subtle marks, higher for unmissable ones.
Picking a watermark for a gallery
Gallery Settings → Watermark row. The picker lists:
- None — no watermark, clean original delivery
- Every watermark in your library, by name
- + Manage library → to jump to Settings → Watermarks
Switch any time. The change kicks off a background rebuild of every photo's variants. While the rebuild runs, the gallery viewer falls back to the previous watermark (or no mark) — clients never see a broken state.
Free tier
On the free Starter plan, every photo carries the Encore wordmark across the bottom. Custom marks unlock on Studio and up. Upgrade, swap in your own mark from your library, and the next rebuild replaces the Encore wordmark on every photo.
If thumbnails look stale after a change
Open the ⋯ more menu in the top-right of the gallery editor and hit Rebuild thumbnails. Force-regenerates every variant under the current watermark, overwriting any stale thumbnails in storage.
