Refer a photographer

Every account has a referral link, under Settings, then Referrals. Share it anywhere. Free-plan galleries also carry it automatically: the Powered by Encore credit at the bottom of a gallery links to Encore with your code, so a client who is also a photographer can find their way in through your work.

What counts

A photographer who opens your link has 30 days to sign up and still count as introduced by you. The last referral link they open before signing up is the one that counts; once their studio is created the attribution is fixed and never moves.

A referral earns a credit when that studio pays its first invoice on a paid plan, by card on the web. A free signup earns nothing, and neither does a trial or a fully discounted invoice. A subscription bought through the iPhone app does not produce a card invoice and earns nothing. Nothing is earned for referring yourself.

What you earn

10% off three months of your own plan, per paying referral, applied as credit to your Encore account. On a monthly plan that is 10% of three monthly invoices. On a yearly plan it is the same share of three twelfths of your yearly price, which comes to a little less in dollars because the yearly price is already discounted. The credit sits on your Stripe balance and offsets your next invoices until it is used up.

Credits stack. Every paying referral adds another. Refer enough photographers and your plan is covered.

If you are on the free plan when a referral pays, the credit is banked. It applies the moment you subscribe on the web, at the rate of the plan you choose, and the Referrals page shows how many are waiting. Credit applies to plans billed by card on the web; a plan billed through the iPhone app has no card invoice to credit, so the credit stays banked until billing moves to the web.

What it is not

Credit is not cash. It is never paid out and has no value outside your Encore invoices. It does not expire while your account exists, but it is applied only to Encore charges. If the referred studio's first payment is refunded or disputed, the credit for that referral is taken back.

Your Referrals page shows each studio you introduced, whether it is on a paid plan, and the credit applied so far.
